Campus Speech Codes [ send me this paper ] 12 pages in length. The quest for political correctness – both dubious and preclusive of all else – has reached an apex of complete irrationality when it comes to appeasing society's most vocal protestors, a wave of senselessness that has all but overtaken today's institutions of higher learning. College campus codes – "any behavior, verbal or physical, that stigmatizes or victimizes individuals on the basis of race, ethnic or national origin" (Kors et al, 1999, p. PG) – have overruled any logical approach to human interaction where prejudice – often perceived - is concerned, mandating instead the manner by which college students interact. This overt attempt to quell the presence of racially offensive exchanges has wholly bypassed its original objective, instead creating an entirely unprecedented – if not unwelcome – directive of how people are to relate to one another without offending a person's ethnic orientation in the process while disregarding everyone's innate right to freedom of speech. Censorship [ send me this paper ] A 5 page research paper that addresses the topic of censorship, with particular focus on public school libraries. Censorship, by definition, restricts the free flow of information and ideas. Censorship in the US is usually rationalized as a means of protecting minors from sexually explicit material. However, there can be considerable difference of opinion even on this topic as what some parents see as "pornography," others perceive to be age-appropriate information on sexual health. An examination of censorship in the US indicates that parents should monitor reading material in the home, rather than insisting that certain books should be banned in school and public libraries. Censorship & The Sex Educator [ send me this paper ] A 5 page research paper that explores the question: should sex educators view or show sexually explicit films; is this necessary for them to do their job better? The writer takes the position that there is a distinction between sexually explicit films and pornography and discusses the difference and offers an opinion. Bibliography lists 5 sources. Censorship-Filters in Libraries [ send me this paper ] A 3 page research paper that examines the use of censorship-filters on public-access computers in libraries. For libraries throughout the country that wish to continue to receive federal funding, it is no longer a question of whether or not to employ censorship-filters on at least some their public access computers, it is simply a question of implementation. This is due to the Supreme Court decision to uphold the Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA) (What's next, 2004). Censorship-filters are here to stay on children's computers in libraries (What's next, 2004). On that, there is no debate as the public, as well as Congress, are demanding censorship in regards to children's use of the Internet. However, it is still questionable as to whether or not all library computers should have filters installed. Bibliography lists 4 sources. Filename: khcenfil.rtf
Changes in Education Funding [ send me this paper ] A 3 page paper reviewing changes in public education spending in the US between 1919 and 2001. Per-student spending in adjusted dollars (to 2001) has increased nearly 16 times over the 1919-20 amount and by a third in the modern era of technology; it would seem that we could expect more impressive results in outcome than we currently enjoy. Many other factors enter into spending today, however, including educating a greater percentage of America's school-age children than in the past and providing bilingual and special education to children who were excluded from public education in decades past. Remember: Not all papers contain examples of thesis statements. Some provide information you can cite in support of your own thesis. To determine if a particular paper provides an exemplary thesis, review its description carefully. If the content suggests that the paper makes an argument or sets out to prove some point, then that paper inherently supports a thesis.
