Kate Chopin’s “The Storm” tells the story of a 19th century housewife, Calixta, who appears to be unhappy and restless within her marriage. Upon the arrival of an old flame, Alcee, during the approach of a storm, Calixta begins to feel nervous, warm and excited. Her obvious passions are reciprocated and she and Alcee have an affair that lasts the duration of the storm. The characterization of Calixta takes a surprising turn at this point however as neither Alcee nor Calixta experience guilt or remorse of their affair. Remember: Not all papers contain examples of thesis statements. Some provide information you can cite in support of your own thesis. To determine if a particular paper provides an exemplary thesis, review its description carefully. If the content suggests that the paper makes an argument or sets out to prove some point, then that paper inherently supports a thesis.
